My Love Letter to New York 002

Size: 40×100 cm | 16×39 in
Medium: Oil and Gold Leaf on Canvas
In My Love Letter to New York 002, Sergei Moskalev paints the Manhattan skyline at night as a long band of towers above the water, their lights breaking into reflections of gold, red and white. Deep blues and violets hold the scene together while touches of gold leaf give the glow a quiet radiance. Moskalev describes gold as the way he holds onto a feeling that color alone cannot carry, warmth and memory that linger in a place long after the moment has passed. The panoramic format of 40×100 cm works well above a bed, sideboard or sofa. The painting is oil and gold leaf on canvas.

    Description

“My Love Letter to New York 002” invites you into the heart of New York. Painted in oil and gold leaf on canvas at 40×100 cm | 16×39 in, this original artwork by Sergei Moskalev is part of the My Love Letter to New York collection, where each piece serves as an emotional tribute to the city’s spirit.

“Gold found its way into my work when I began to understand that light cannot always be painted; it must be felt. There are moments when color alone is not enough, when the glow of a place carries something deeper, almost intangible. Gold allows me to hold onto that feeling. It brings warmth, memory, and a quiet radiance to the canvas, echoing the way light lingers in a place long after the moment has passed.” — Sergei Moskalev

Drawing on his classical training at the Penza Art College and years of exhibiting across Europe, Sergei Moskalev has developed a signature style that bridges old-world mastery with contemporary expression. His New York paintings transform the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan skyline, and bustling avenues into luminous, emotionally charged compositions. Each piece in this collection invites viewers to experience energy, ambition, and urban poetry through Moskalev’s distinctive lens.

Enhanced with gold leaf, the painting gains an additional dimension — a warm, luminous glow that shifts with the light, creating an almost living quality that photographs cannot fully capture.

This original painting is available for purchase through Basha Art Gallery with worldwide shipping. Each work comes with a certificate of authenticity. For inquiries about this piece or to commission a similar work, contact us directly.
